Citizens Ballot Measure to Elect City Attorney
Should the City Attorney be elected by the voters or appointed by the City Council? Signing this petition asks that this question be submitted to voters to decide whether they would like to elect their Attorney or have the City Council appoint the Attorney in the City of Grover Beach. See the 2nd file below for a simplified version and flyer that you can print & distribute.
Why Elect the Grover Beach City Attorney?
Below is a simplified version of the petition and the reasons GROVERH2O wishes to ask Grover Beach voters if they prefer to elect their city attorney.
In November 2024 the majority of Grover Beach voters elected to REPEAL the water & sewer rate increases adopted by their city council. The City immediately began the process to increase sewer rates again. Unless 50% plus 1 water customer sends a protest letter the sewer rates will double within 4 years. Click on the last template below for a letter to send to the City protesting the increase. Please keep checking back for more information on Petition Parties in the Park and opportunities to sign recall petitions and the initiative to ask the voters if they wish to elect their city attorney.

The first step in a recall is to gather a state-mandated number of signatures of "proponents" who support circulating a formal recall. They must first circulate a notice of intention to submit a formal recall petition with their reasons for recall, serve it on the recallees, post it in a local newspaper, give the recallees a chance to respond, and then submit the proposed formal recall petition to the city clerk for approval or changes.
